The Custom Home

"The custom home". This is probably the most overused and least understood term used in home construction today. In the residential construction industry today, building a custom home has come to mean making few choices from a standard selection sheet and applying those 'selections' to a plan that has been re-designed and built over and over again. It may be large and expensive, but it is far from original and unique. At The K.V. Sanders Company, we believe building a true custom home is a process, that while not always an easy one, leads to a unique home that has never been built before. This means creating a design that begins with a blank sheet of paper and building on your ideas and our 20+ years of experience.

The planning and construction of a custom home is time consuming - but rewarding. The process of developing plans, integrating state-of-the-art engineering, offering numerous options, and finalizing details is time well spent. To aid in these efforts from the start, a design/build team is formed consisting of the clients, the builder and the architect. Interior design expertise is added as the project progresses and the exterior and interior selections of materials, textures, colors and fixtures becomes critical. Throughout the entire design process the design team's single goal is to implement the client's desires while keeping the project in line with the budget.

There is much more to custom home building than making choices from the limited offerings of pretend 'custom builders'. In true custom home building, the systems engineering and selections process is a part of every component for the house. From the ratio of cement in the concrete mix, the grade of framing and finish lumber, to wire specification for data transmission in the home's automation system, and even to the color of the stone aggregate used in the final sidewalk concrete, no details are left to chance. Orchestrating the numerous selections, incorporating all the engineering specifications, meeting budget specifications, holding a project time line, and bringing to life each client's desires are what defines The K.V. Sanders Company.

Along the way you're going to have many questions. Kevin Sanders, the company president, will be there to help. Throughout the entire process, you will deal directly with the company principle and not the job superintendent. Kevin Sanders is the builder and he makes sure that your needs are being met during the entire design and construction phase of your custom home.
